On Saturday, June 21st, Marilyn Murphy of ClothRoads will lecture on Global Artisans’ Weaving Cooperatives and their Future Sustainability. The program is jointly produced by TASA, SEFAA (Southeastern Fiber Arts Alliance) and CHG (the Chattahoochee Handweavers Guild). Following the program, there will be a trunk show opportunity to purchase hand-crafted textiles from around the world. This event is free for TASA members –if your dues ($10) for 2014 are paid up OR you pay in advance. ($10 to Anne Godsey, 1795 High Trail, Atlanta, 30339). Money collected at the door ($10) will not go toward dues.
Marilyn Murphy is the former president of Interweave, where she worked side by side with Linda Ligon and other talented women for 16 years. Her pursuits of the fiber arts began during college. After which, Marilyn bought the Weaving Workshop in Chicago and founded the original Textile Arts Centre there in 1986. After 19 years of retail and teaching, she brought her leadership skills to Colorado, Interweave and now ClothRoads. Marilyn is the author of Woven to Wear: 17 Thoughtful Designs with Simple Shapes (Interweave, 2013).
